BACK TO BLOGGING IN LEWISBURG PENNSYLVANIA

 Back to Blog Land

These are some little paintings I made last summer for the Lewisburg Historical Society and Downtown Partnership.  There are 12 images in all.  They are all locations in downtown Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. The paintings are watercolor and the dimensions are 5”x7” or 7”x5”.  I had them all combined into a 2023 Calendar which was sold at two local shops: Brushstrokes and the Campus Theatre.

I haven’t posted in a really long time. Covid arrived and I kind of dropped posting anything on line. Now I am trying to reboot my blogging.

I am also learning Surface Pattern Design and Adobe illustrator. I want to begin posting my pattern collections as soon as I get one completed.

Anyhow, I plan on posting what I have been working on during my hiatus. Thanks for checking this out. Jane 🖌️✏️🧑‍🎨🙂

PS: All of the paintings in this post have been sold.

Lock Haven with Brienne.

"Lock Haven"
9"x12" Watercolor on 140# cold pressed paper block
SOLD ---
Thanks to the Lewisburg Artists Guild and Indoor Art Show
at Packwood House, where the painting just sold.

I painted this scene last fall in the Pennsylvania college town of
Lock Haven.  I was there to meet and paint with Brienne Brown.
She is an amazing watercolor painter.  That is an understatement.

Here is a picture of the two of us.  It was a chilly and rainy day.
We had to huddle under the awning of a beauty salon.

Our finished artwork. And off to lunch.
What a great time we had.

Angling Between Bridges

"Angling Between the Bridges"
12"x18" watercolor on 140# Arches paper

This painting will be shown at Faustina Gallery during
the annual Lewisburg Arts Festival, April 2016.
This is just across the Susquehanna river from Lewisburg.
I have no idea who the fishermen are.  The train bridge will
someday be part of the local bike path/trail.
The shrubbery around the bridge has been cleared for the trail,
so the view is no longer the same.

"Iowa State Capitol Law Library"

"Iowa State Capitol Law Library"
Des Moines, Iowa
Montana Thanksgiving 2015
7"x5" original watercolor
140 lbs. cold pressed paper
Arches Bright white

This is one of the most beautiful and awesome libraries I have ever visited.
There are five stories of books accessed via at least four spiral staircases.
They still have the original books brought by the territorial governor to start the library.
The library is still used every day.

"Iowa Supreme Court Chamber"

"Iowa Supreme Court Chamber"
Des Moines, Iowa
Montana Thanksgiving 2015
5"x7" original watercolor
140 lbs. cold pressed paper
Arches Bright white

That is Katie in the background.
The Chamber is stunning. The judges' bench is carved mahogany.
The Iowa Supreme Court no longer meets here.  They have moved to the Judicial Building of the Capitol complex.  The chamber is now utilized as a committee room for the House of Representatives.
