Lewisburg, PA

"Lewisburg Across the Bridge"
(Original Sold - prints available)
10"x8" Watercolor on 140#Arches
Love this view of town from May's Restaurant on the east side of the Susquehanna River.
You can get an ice cream cone from here, too.  Some day I will have to do a picture of May's.

Selinsgrove PA

"Next to the Bookstore"
(Sold)
7"x5" Watercolor on 140#Arches
Another downtown Selinsgrove image. I might tweak the shadows a bit on this. Now that I see it on screen, it looks a little washed out.

Spring is Sprung

                                                                   "White Hyacinth"
(Sold)
                                                        11"x7" Pastel on Strathmore paper
The sun was out this afternoon and I had to try my hand at the hyacinths.   It has been a while since I pulled out the pastels, but I didn't want to spend more than a few minutes on this.  I wanted to just sit and enjoy.

Food Play for the Complete Artist

"Are you gonna eat that?"
8"x11" Oil on canvas paper
I did this to submit to The Complete Artist workshop #7.  My husband likes this so much he wants me to do two more 'faces' to hang in our dining room.  I have to admit I really enjoyed painting this. I was trying out a new technique where you do an acrylic underpainting with only primary colors.

Here is the hidden image in acrylics.!

Stuff or Junk ?

                                                                          "Candles"
                                                        5"x7" Watercolor on 140#Arches
Someone had a birthday last week. We didn't use these candles.  I found these in the drawer yesterday.
Thanks, Marjorie, for the paper scraps.  This is the first piece I used.

Thinking Spring... sort of

                                                                  "Have Ewe Herd?"
12"x12"times 3, Oil on canvases (Private collection)
The weather has been glorious the past few days.  It has me thinking about spring and lambs.  Okay these are not lambs. ;)     This painting is from a photo my aunt took a few years ago. The sheep are my uncle's flock.

Just a little sepia watercolor I did about a year ago.

Claybord Still Life with Iris

"First Irises", 7"x5" Oil on claybord
These are the very first flowers to bloom in my garden this year.  They pop up just ahead of the crocuses. This is the same vase I did in watercolor yesterday.

This is the first time I tried one of the claybord panels.  It seams a bit dry, but then I didn't put a primer coat on the panel before starting.  I still need to work on getting the vase a little straighter.

Lewisburg by Jane Albin

"Dusk from the Bridge",  6"x12" Oil on canvas
I did this little oil a few months ago.  It is the view coming into Lewisburg from the bridge over the Susquehanna River.

Wapoos Island, Lake Ontario

"Bob Kayaks", 5"x7" Watercolor on 140#Arches
I have been wanting to paint this for a long time.  I struggled with the reflections and getting the water dark enough.   I love painting skies.  They always seem to cooperate.

Chickens!

                                           "Chickens", 2.5"x3.5" Watercolor 0n 140#Arches
I painted these a little bit ago.  I lightly sketch the chicken outline, wet inside the pencil line, and then drop in color. I love how these come out.  I'll have to do a step by step of the process in the future.

Wapoos Island, Lake Ontario

Sunset on Lake Ontario, 7"x5" Watercolor on 140#Arches
I painted this from a photo taken on vacation a few years ago.  Wapoos Island is a short distance from the mainland in Prince Edward County, Ontario.  There are more sheep there than people.  It was a great getaway in a well equipped modern cabin.

Joanne Landis at Green Drake Gallery

This is my dear friend Joanne and some of her newest work.
I went to the Green Drake Gallery this evening to the opening reception of the new Joanne Landis and Jim Bright exhibit.  (runs until March 31.)  Joanne creates large narrative paintings with lush figures that are filled with symbolism. Jim creates large organic wood sculptures.  It was wonderful as usual.
The Green Drake Gallery is located in Milheim Pa.
The Green Drake features several rooms of gallery space, with original wood floors dating back to the 1880's and a high original sculpted tin ceiling in the main room.  Along with original oil and acrylic paintings by resident artists Karl Eric Leitzel and Elody Gyekis, they have both 2-D and 3-D fine art by many other regional, national, and international artists.

for The Complete Artist

"Still Life with Richard Robinson" Watercolor on 140#Arches 2.5"x3.5"
I did this itty bitty watercolor as a warmup for the Complete Artist Workshop 7.  I'll post my real submission later.

Meanwhile,  this is the beginning of the oil painting I'm working on Wednesdays at the YMCA Art Center in Sunbury.  I'll post again next week with the next update.
Morning at the Lewisburg Hotel, in progress, oil on canvas 18"x24"
My classmates are excited to see how the 'hovercraft' comes out.  It's sort of under the portico, and kind of floating, so far.....
